Cadet Airman Basic

Cadet Airman Basic (C/AB) is the entry level grade of all CAP cadets. During the time that this grade is held, cadets undergo basic cadet training at the squadron level. C/ABs are to be referred to as "Cadet" by other cadets and senior members.

The grade has no corresponding achievement award. The only requirement to become a C/AB is to undergo the orientation at the squadron and submission of the CAPF 15. Once the member has been accepted into the cadet program and receives his or her CAP membership card, the cadet is eligible to wear the "CAP cutouts" (shown left) that designate the cadet as a new recruit into the program.

A C/AB will be promoted to Cadet Airman upon completion of the Maj Gen John F. Curry Achievement.
